Fluorite, a Gem of many colors
Some minerals only come in one main color where others are like Skittles--they are every color. Fluorite is such a gem. It is a calcium fluoride crystal that has a hardness of 4 on the Mos scale with octahedral growth patterns. Why is it called Fluorite? Because it has the property of fluorescence which is the display of vivid glowing colors under UV light. Kinda like glow in the dark Skittles but without the dark.
